Weddings at the Carriage Rooms at Montalto are sure to be a beautiful event. It is a stunning venue and Pamela and Richards wedding was an incredible day.
Before I start please excuse the length of this entry but I simply have so much to say about this wedding. Wedding photography is very much about adapting to various conditions ,weather, time etc. Sometimes however we get one of those days when everything just falls into place perfectly. There are a multitude of great venues for wedding photography in NI.
I have sometimes been asked ‘Whats the best place you have photographed a wedding?’. Now I always find this a difficult question because every venue has its own characteristics and there are lots of wonderful venues. However I have to say that if I was picking a ‘top ten’ then the Carriage Rooms at Montalto would feature high on the list .
When Pamela & Richard first came to seem me I had really high hopes. Its lovely when you meet a couple who are really thinking about what they want and also the photography etc. One of the first things I was asked to do was go and see their venue to see what I thought. So on a brisk spring morning we headed down to Montalto Estate. Even at first glance it was obvious that this would be a stunning wedding venue. The grounds and setting quite simply ‘blew me away’ and the plans for the new Carriage Rooms seemed to ‘tick all the boxes’ . The only major concern I had was if I could do the venue justice. There just seemed like so many options for phtographs.
The other thing was that the wedding was planned for November and the light at that time of year tends to fade quickly. Though if we got a good day the Autumn colours might be good.
I feel incredibly blessed to be able to share in a couples wedding but my job is made so much easier when the couple are willing to go the extra mile (and then a bit more) to give every possible chance.
This was the case with Pamela and Richard who (in order to give the best chance for light) decided to have their ceremony at 12 noon (thus allowing more time). Then Richard phoned me a while before the ‘big day’ to suggest a helicopter flying from church to Montalto so that we could have an extra hour for photos. Now that’s what I call commitment !!
Pamela and Richard were a great couple to work with, they give us plenty of time and were willing to have fun and even try a few ‘whacky things’ . Add all these ingredients into the mix and everything becomes incredibly special.
Well the wedding took place on a Saturday in November so we knew the weather might be a little brisk. The morning started off wet/foggy/miserable and cold, but as if it was planned around 10:30am it started to brighten up and it was a beautiful day (chilly but beautiful).
I am over the moon to be able to share a few of the pictures from this wedding, I loved the entire day. It would be a travesty if I did not also record my thanks to my good friend Steven who was helping as a 2nd shooter for the day. It made everything a lot easier and allowed us to cover touch more of he day and give Pamela and Richard many more pictures. I look forward to being able to return the favour.
I was one of the first to see Pamela in her wedding dress and she was simply stunning , Richard was looking very dapper and the Carriage Rooms and Montalto Grounds were beautiful and the Autumn colours only added to the splendour.
So a wonderful couple willing to do anything asked, a good day, incredible venue and the joy of recording one of the most joyous occasions…what more could I ask !!
Oh yes – There were fireworks on the evening
I hope you enjoy looking through this little selection of a few of my favourite photos!
Like all Weddings at the Carriage Rooms at Montalto this was indeed an incredible journey for this Northern Ireland Wedding Photographer
